Disheartening news. My horse has navicular disease in his right front foot. While it’s treatable, it appears to be a lifetime issue for him. Now he’ll have to wear shoes… He’ll never be able to work that hard, not that he does anyway… And, it’s going to be HUGELY expensive. There will be no comic today. Actually, that’s wrong. I forgot to load yesterday’s comic. So, you DO get one today.

Never a good sign when a horse gets a problem. I’ve got a couple horses that are in need of more than I can handle, and I can’t even find a rescue place to take ’em. I don’t WANT to give ’em away…but what’s best for the horse! And my wife won’t even listen to reason there. :/
There comes a point when you have to let the horse go to someone who can help. I had to do that with one with a broken pelvis and a bone infection. My farm was on a hill and was the worst thing for him mobility-wise. By sending him back where I got him, they were able to rehabilitate him into the riding horse he is today. Fortunately, I’ll be able to handle Beej’s problems. I just feel bad he’s not sound. He misses riding. He dragged me into the barn where the arena is and just stared in the direction. He knows he’s not ready, but he wants to get back to riding. Broke my heart.
