For all those who THINK they want to begin ghost hunting… beware. It’s a heck of a lot of work! I’m going on investigation tonight with IndyPara to scout out a possible venue for us to do lectures and public ghost hunts. Not too long ago, we did an all night investigation, collecting tons of evidence, much of which I am not finished with.

It takes hours to do a proper paranormal investigation and a lot longer to sort out the evidence, most of which is time orientated. Audio runs just as long as the entire investigation, and sometimes longer if you have more than one recording device. For every hour of video you shoot, you need to review it for an hour at least. This does not include rewinding, cutting saving out separate files, etc. This adds up quickly.

Time becomes an issue when you have other responsibilities, such as work. You have to eat. Ghost hunting does not put food on the table. Family requires love and attention, investigations will steal you away most weekends. If you have a daily comic strip on top of that, it gets dicey for sure! So, my time has to be well managed or nothing gets done. If you are serious about this field, take into account the time demand. Make sure you block out family, and personal time. Otherwise, you will not stay sane, or married! Ha!

Tonight takes me away from my husband, who has to work today. So, he’ll be lonely when he arrives home. This is the downside of what I do. We have an understanding in my household, that personal dreams are important. That is why I do a comic strip and why I ghost hunt. It is also why he cooks wonderful food and explore opportunities to use those skills.

Remember, ghost hunting is it’s own reward. Attaching anything else to it is pointless… this includes fame, or money. For me, it is about the communication with those who have passed. I have an innate curiosity with the idea of people sticking around and why they would choose to do so. I also like to help others understand they are dealing with another person, not some mystery that will hurt them as movies portray.

And so I head off into the sunset to see if I can find some ghosts and have a chat. Then I will have MORE evidence to plow through! HA!

BTW: I promised Rachel, Lisa and Leah, my Twitter pals, I would post the birthday cake they made for me. Rachel took the time to have an entire virtual birthday party for me on the 20th. So, here’s the great cake! Notice the ghosts around the outside!
