I ran across an interesting question… do the spirits who respond in the electronic voice phenomena change their voices to sound like someone else or offer up false information?

I’m certain that some of them do! Just because you lose your body doesn’t mean you suddenly get saddled with a halo and a whole new outlook… In fact, a spirit who is grounded to Earth is more likely to have issues and a disreputable disposition.

The electronic voice recorder can become a beacon to indigent spirits, almost like a Ouija board. It is important to protect yourself with prayer before investigations, and just as important to not put too much stock on the information you receive. Rule of thumb… do not make a habit of seeking evps from your home! You can attract unwanted attention! Who wants roommates who don’t fork over their share of the rent? (At least they don’t eat much.)

For all intents and purposes, we are really listening to just the voice with the idea of having dialogue with the other side. We need to stay grounded in that we don’t place a lot of importance on the content. This is still an investigation, not necessarily a truthful conversation.

Like Mr. Weasley says in Harry Potter, “Never trust anything that can think for itself if you can’t see where it keeps it’s brain.”

Investigate with caution, but don’t take it too seriously. That’s not to say you shouldn’t pass on a message of love from a deceased relative. There are pockets of truth in the universe too.

BTW: If you missed the Houghton Mansion episode of 30 Odd Minutes, catch it here! It’s hysterical. I even managed to sneak in a plug for “Vlad’s Acme Holy Water.” Jeff and crew are loads of laughs. Also, you get an actual tour of the haunted mansion! http://www.30oddminutes.com/
