Who was it that first decided ghosts looked like people covered in sheets? Anyone who has seen an apparition or photos of such would not mistake it for a sheet-covered hominid. Perhaps this is because I’m a visual sort and see details more distinctly than others.
Beyond that thought, I always think of Charlie Brown wearing a “fitted” (the one that goes around the mattress) sheet for his ghost costume… When you used the fitted version, you lose that nice cool, ghostly flow of a regular sheet. The fitted sucker bunches around your ankles like a bad fashion statement. Which is EXACTLY why I always used them for Toga parties in college. A good dorky fitted-sheet toga was an excellent conversation piece. Always go for the humor… you can’t get any better advice from me!
Once again, the ghost of Carl is suffering from self-esteem issues, this time about being seen. His apparition ability isn’t where it ought to be. And so, bring on the sheet – it’s a great solution to his dilemma. The problem lies in that he was not choosing his fitted sheet for comedic reasons… Sadly, he just nerds out.
Carl will one day get over himself, but then the cartoon will lose it’s humor. So, we can’t have that yet!
Laugh it up! Enjoy!
