Every once c in a while, I have to write something that has virtually nothing to do with ghost hunting. Saturday’s cartoon is case and point.
Instead, I’m character building, I suppose… Merv is showing his “rocker” colors once again. Notice I don’t let him do the “devil” sign… not superstitious, but not inclined to allow my little Merv to get twisted. Hey, this is still a family comic to some extent. Though, I do draw that line kinda close…
What makes a cartoon captivating is the characters as much as the topic. A bunch of stick-figure investigators isn’t going to make Entities-R-Us particularly interesting. It takes personality. Why do you think the television show Ghost Hunters is so captivating? It’s the characters involved. People like them, want to know them. It’s the same with cartoons.
And so, we spend Saturday defining a little Mervliness.
You have to admit, he’s pretty comical… pun intended.
